The BOUDOIR guide

Love is Magic

I am so excited to spend this time with you and capture gorgeous and badass photos for you or your partner! I put together this guide to give you tips on what to wear plus some of my favorite tips to prepare for your shoot.

If there’s one thing I know, it’s that confidence is key to amazing photographs. So many women forget what it’s like to feel beautiful and strong. We get too busy with our lives, our family and our jobs. Which is why your session is designed to remind you that you are special, beautiful and desirable. I will show you how to bring out the inner model that lives inside all of us.

Welcome to the guide

Be sure to bookmark this page now, because it's going to be your BESTIE as you plan and prepare for your shoot!

what to Expect

ANYONE CAN DO THIS
Anyone can do a boudoir photoshoot-single or married! You do not have to be in a relationship to do a boudoir shoot! Do it for yourself to look back on one day and remind yourself how much of a bad ass you are.

CONFIDENCE IS SEXY
If you do happen to be in a relationship, a boudoir session makes a great gift! BELIEVE ME your partner loves every curve of your body, that’s why they are YOUR significant other! Don’t be self conscious and don’t be nervous! Confidence is the sexiest thing in the world, so come into your shoot believing you are Beyoncé and I swear with my help you will look and feel like her in your photos!

DON'T BE NERVOUS
If you are a little nervous, that’s ok girl, you’re naked, so it’s expected. A little liquid courage is a good way to loosen up but I don't encourage drinking and driving, as your session is only 60 minutes. And I don't want you to feel like you need alcohol to feel comfortable.

STRIKE A POSE
Don’t know how the F to pose yourself because you are in fact not Gisele? That’s cool, I got you, that’s my job! Be prepared to feel like you did an hour long yoga class when I get done with you because posing in heels holding your breath with your back arched is no joke. But trust me when I say you are gonna look hella good!

tips for success

Refrain from drinking ALCOHOL for 48 hours before your shoot. Alcohol makes your eyes puffy the next morning!

Drink lots of WATER. Your skin looks better when you are hydrated.

Other guides will tell you to cut out JUNK FOOD, CARBONATED BEVERAGES, CRUCIFEROUS VEGETABLES.

But I am not about that body shaming BS.

In fact I think food and boudoir can be super cute and playful.

UNIQUE IDEAS

5 QUESTIONS YOU'VE BEEN DYING TO ASK ABOUT COUPLES BOUDOIR

1. What is Couples Boudoir?
A photoshoot for the adventurous couple and any couple ready to step out of their comfort zone and try something new and exciting! But more than that it is an intimate portrait of your passion and connection.

2. Where can we take photos?
I have a home studio in Rancho Cucamonga but some couples want a more unique location and choose to book an Airbnb or hotel. Let me know if you are interested in a Destination Session in LA, OC or SD and I'll send you my list of unique studio spaces. And remember to include props from a hobby or activity you share. Anything from Shibari to Pizza and Beer.

3. What if he gets a little TOO EXCITED?
Things may get heated and cause a bulge. It happens more often than you think and I am not bothered by it. So I'll carry on photographing until you ask for a water or bathroom break to calm down. Your session is only an hour so you can wait till you get home to get it on.

4. Can we be FULLY NUDE?
I photograph Implied Nude and pose you tastefully. While I pose you, I'll most likely see your junk but I won't photograph your package or penetration. it's that simple.

5. Will you photograph our FANTASY?!
Most likely yes. I even have a few BDSM accessories you can include. I'm pretty comfortable with most things but will not create porn with you. I won't photograph actual intercourse or sex acts. Let's start with a conversation and go from there.

What to Wear

Everyone is curious about this and I will help you select outfits that fit your own personal style and body type. The most important thing is to choose outfits that make you feel confident and sexy. A good rule of thumb: Bring at least 3 outfits: something white, something black, and something in a fun color or a sheer robe so you can mix and match.

Have a lot of outfits? Not sure what to bring? No problem. I suggest you pack everything up in a suitcase (yes, really) and bring them with you. I can help you narrow down your options. Need new outfits, or don't know where to start? I got you. Read on for all the tips!

Round Body Type
If you have a rounded waist and your torso and upper body are much wider than your hips, you have a round body. This means you need lingerie that makes your body look proportionate. A negligee that hides chunks of your waistline and defines your bust line is a good option. A teddy also sits well on this type of body. For newbies, a pair of chemises or satin lingerie gowns are an interesting choice – they are sexy and give you coverage.

Rectangle Body Type
If you have an athletic figure with no defined curves, you have a rectangular body. You need something that cinches at the waist, and corsets are the best option for that. They add curves and look sensuous. If you have a long torso, a garter belt or a teddy will look great on you. You can also accentuate your breasts by going for push-up bras and bustier lingerie.

Bottom Triangle Body Type
Big hips are all the rage right now, and the triangle body type is characterized by exactly that. Your hips are wider than your shoulders when you have a triangle body. The idea is to make your body look more balanced and proportionate. A lacy negligee that is taut at the breasts but flows down around the hips is a great option. A bustier is also a great option to draw attention to your breasts. You can also try out a matching set with a ruffled bra and panties or a bandeau bra that levels out your shoulders and hips.

Top Triangle Body Type
Broad shoulders define this body type, and what you decide to showcase is a personal preference. Halter necks are your best option here. If you have a flatter bum, go for a teddy to divert attention away from it. A bralette with a matching lace panty or a thong is another sexy option. Matching cami sets are another option if you like a relatively tame look.

Hourglass Body Type
If you have a stereotypical “36-24-36” figure, wear lingerie that adds oomph to your already hot bod. With shoulders and hips that are of the same width and a slender waistline, anything sits well on this type of body. However, garter belts, teddies, and corsets are top-notch choices for this body type. You can also go for a high-leg panty or a thong with a lace bra.

1. Garter Belt
A garter belt looks complicated, but it’s not. It is something you need to try at least once in your life. It comes with a corset or lace bra and a panty with four straps that hold up the stockings.

2. Lace Robe
Lace Robes are a must and can be worn over a cute matching set or totally nude.

3. Matching Set
A few good matching sets are an essential in every woman’s wardrobe. There’s something incredibly sensual about matching sets that lifts your mood instantly. They are heavy on the pocket but worth the money.

4. Corset
Corsets reduce the size of your waist and camouflage any unwanted bulges. The lace ties enhance your figure and give it definition.

5. Bustier
A bustier is not very different from the corset, except that it focuses on lifting your bust. It works like a push-up bra and makes your breasts look well-rounded. The hook and eye closures sharpen the shape further.

6. Teddy
A teddy looks like a swimsuit. It's a lacy or sheer fusion of a bra and a panty.

7. Unique
Try something different with unique details. Make a statement or choose a period piece.

8. Negligee
It stays true to its name and is a total knock-out. If you’re trying to shop for lingerie and not sure what might impress your partner, a negligee is your answer. It is sexy, feather-light, and sits smoothly on your skin.

Different Types of Lingerie

Everybody is unique and deserves attention, pampering, and indulgence. Being aware of your body type is a crucial piece in this puzzle. Now go shopping!

how to Prepare

Make sure you shave a few days in advance so that redness, rashes, or bumps are not prevalent the day of your shoot.

I recommend getting everything (eyebrows too) waxed 3-4 days before your shoot. If you do go the waxing route do so a few days in advance. It just makes life easier and you don't have to worry about hair for at least a few weeks! ?

Try everything on that you plan to wear for your shoot. Don't just throw stuff in a bag and hope it fits. It will save on your time and mine. Remove all tags from outfits that you will be wearing and pack your stuff.

If you get a mani/pedi and choose to get polish, stick with a neutral color. You don't want your nails to be a bright blue and it clash with that red outfit you wanted to wear.

If you HAVE to get a spray tan do it about a week before your shoot. Don't do any drastic color! Orange skin does not look good! If you've never gotten a spray tan do a trial a month or 2 prior to your shoot. And stay out of the sun in the days before your shoot.

If you get a Facial, make sure to complete it 1.5 weeks before your session, so your skin has time to heal. Drink lots of water and Moisturize daily.

the Week before Your Shoot

Drink tons of water. Stay away from alcohol and salt 24 hours before your shoot. Alcohol makes your eyes puffy and Salt makes you retain water.

Pack your suitcase (yes, really). I can help you narrow down your options when you arrive.

Bathe, exfoliate, & moisturize.

Touch up on any hair removal...BE CAREFUL!

Brides, Clean your Ring.

Get a good night's sleep.

The Day Before Your Shoot

Wear loose fitting clothes. YES, you can skip the bra! If you wear tight fitting clothes they may leave marks on your skin that will show in your pictures.

Eat something light before your shoot.

Wear clear deodorant.

If you are doing your own makeup stick with a natural look. You can look like you're wearing makeup, just don't overdo it.

Apply fake eye lashes, they make a HUGE difference in photos because they accentuate your eyes and give them a gorgeous almond shape.

If you are doing your own hair, I recommend loose wild curls or mermaid waves. Trade the hairspray for loose, natural looking waves with lots of volume.
