Mhairi and Mark decided to take engagement photos at Princes Street Gardens, under Edinburgh Castle, the actual inspiration for Hogwarts! Eek, totally making all of my Harry Potter dreams come true! Mhairi wore a floral dress because it is technically Spring in Edinburgh but you wouldn’t know it from the chill in the air. Luckily, she brought along a gorgeous vintage style coat that she purchased from British Retro.
EDINBURGH ENGAGEMENT PHOTOS AT PRINCES STREET GARDENS
Ross fountain is nestled under and has an unobstructed view of Edinburgh Castle. The garden opens at 7am year round. We met in the early morning, to avoid the tourist crowds. I know what you’re thinking… That’s early! BUUUT… I promise, it’s 100% worth it! You won’t be disappointed! If you’re contemplating taking your engagement photos at Princes Street Gardens, one of the prime Edinburgh engagement shoot locations, I highly recommend arriving when the park opens at 7am, this way we can avoid the crowds and enjoy a coffee and scone at The Fountain Cafe. Morning is the perfect time to meet in Princes Street Gardens because the sun rises behind the iconic Edinburgh Castle. I love how the light changes in the morning. It starts off soft with pink and purple hues. Then as the sun rises, it illuminates the garden with a warm glow.
