Kilmardinny House is a wedding venue near Glasgow that feels elegant, surrounded by beautiful gardens, and gives you plenty of space to actually enjoy your day, you’re going to love this one.
When Shannon & Jack got married at Kilmardinny House, their day wasn’t about perfection. It was about belly laughs, ridiculous games, stolen kisses, and making memories with the people they love most. It was exactly the kind of wedding I adore photographing.
Wedding Speeches That Had Everyone Crying… With Laughter
The groom had everyone hooked from the first sentence, with the bride constantly bursting into laughter while guests wiped away tears from laughing so much. Looking around the room, every table was completely engaged.
Those genuine reactions are always my favourite photographs.
Nobody is looking at the camera. Nobody is posing. Everyone is simply living the moment.
That’s exactly how wedding memories should feel.
The Most Brilliant Reception Game I’ve Seen
Instead of leaving guests sitting at their tables waiting for the evening reception, Shannon & Jack had something far more entertaining planned. Each table secretly selected a Table Captain. Guests opened personalised envelopes announcing their important mission for the evening.
Their tasks included:
- Leading their table
- Taking group selfies
- Stealing another tables hat & Documenting the chaos
- Getting everyone onto the dance floor
- Encouraging guests to upload their own photos throughout the day
- One captain even had to give an impromptu speech
Soon enough everyone was proudly wearing Captain armbands, comparing missions and trying to outdo one another.
They even gave out loads of pegs and encouraged people to secretly “peg” each other, someone even got me! Within minutes complete strangers were chatting, laughing and becoming friends.
I’ve photographed well over 200 weddings, and this was honestly one of the most fun reception ice-breakers I’ve seen.
The two play on the same coed ice hokey team, so they included an ice hockey cake topper and hokey jersey guestbook.
